MPR reporter Dan Gunderson joins a night time hunt for prairie chickens on the Glacial Ridge National Wildlife Refuge near Crookston. The birds are doing so well in the refuge that some are being captured and sent to Wisconsin in hopes of re-establishing the bird there. (MPR Video/Dan Gunderson)

The Nature Conservancy reports. At 24,000 acres, Glacial Ridge is the largest prairie-wetland restoration project in the United States. And because the Conservancy and partners are returning the land to its original condition — native prairie — the prairie chicken population here is booming. (TNC/Chris Anderson)
